This course is being designed for undergraduate/postgraduate students. This course will explain to the students what Big Data means and why Big Data is important to your job, your company and your industry. This course teaches you to build Big Data systems using an architecture that takes advantage of clustered hardware along with new tools designed specifically to capture and analyze web-scale data. You will learn the crucial role of Big Data in Biohealthcare. Management, processing and security of Big Data.
This course will be taught through a series of lectures based on selected chapters of the textbook and supplemental texts. Case studies, videos, in-class (group and individual) exercises and take-home assignments will be frequently used to solidify the understanding through reflection and interactions.
Students are expected to review the materials and participate actively in class. All the materials will be posted on the Online Teaching Platform. Students are advised to check their message box on the Online Teaching Platform frequently.
